Press Release

Civil Service Harriers and Athletic Club (CSHAC) wish to announce sponsorship for 2010 of 3 talented athletes - two seniors and one junior. The sponsorship takes the form of a financial grant to be used to assist the athletes in pursuit of their athletic goals and the fund will be administered by the committee of CSHAC.

CSHAC, with its club house in the Phoenix Park, has been in existence since 1925 and among its members past and present can number Olympians as well as international and national class athletes.

The flagship race of the club is the Frank Duffy 10 mile Road Race held each August in the Phoenix park. For the past several years the Frank Duffy 10 miler has been part of the very successful Adidas three race series. IT is that success that allows CSHAC be in the position to put something back into the sport of athletics as well as continuing the tradition of making a donation to a local charity. The nominated charity to benefit this year is the Capuchin Day Centre.

After some consideration Alan O'Brien of Crusaders AC and Brian Farrell of Sliabh Chulainn AC and Tekea Gebrezghi of Celtic AC were chosen to be the recipients of grants from CSHAC. It was a prerequisite for selection that the athlete be of very high caliber and not be in receipt of similar financial funding elsewhere.

All at CSHAC are very pleased to make this announcement and delighted to be associated with these three talented athletes and wish each of them every success in their running careers.
