A great evening race in Dunboyne

It was a great evening for the club at BHAA Government Services 5mile race in Dunboyne with 28 members running in this combined race. As the start time approached the sun came out to raise the temperature for the runners. After a narrow start line the race got underway on a flat left hand course along the aromatic country roads surrounding Dunboyne village.  A tough finish included 600m on the Dunboyne AC track – hard seeing the finishing line with another lap to go! First man home for CSH and 4th in the overall race was Paul Cowhie who finished in 26mins31sec – this also earned him another win in his category. Second home and also winning his category was Bobby Bedford in 27mins26sec –congrats to both. Third man home was Dave Sweeney in a great time of 28mins13sec. First home for the ladies and continuing her great run of form was Angie McElligot in 33mins17sec. Second lady home was Brid Ryan in 35mins18sec and she was closely followed by Claire Egan in 35mins40sec. Battles throughout the field included Stephen Lynch in 35mins52sec and Brian Doyle 36mins, Ger  Victory in 36mins26sec and Adrian McEntee in 36mins28sec and a trio with Mairead Cullen in 39mins8sec, Ciaran Donaghy in 39mins18sec and Denis Nunan in 39mins20sec.  Special mention has to go to our three BHAA debutants on the night – Ger Victory, Denis Nunan and Denise Williams, we hope you enjoyed  a great BHAA experience and got some brack afterwards (along with a fantastic array of food provided by the organisers). Team prizes on the night went to Dave Sweeney – on the Garda team that won the A Class and to Jason Harte who was on the Legal team that was 3rd in the B class – congrats. Finally it was great to John Byrne back racing in this event – well done John, an inspiration to all.
