Success for Grainne at the first BHAA XC race for 2012
On Saturday the first BHAA XC races for 2012 were held in Tymon Park with the event being organised by South Dublin County Council. From Civil Service Harriers we had 16 runners with 6 ladies and 10 men, which was a great turn out for the club. In typical XC conditions there was a 2mile ladies race which had 61 runners followed by a 4mile mens race which had 254 runners - clearly plenty of runners eager to shake off the Christmas pounds!. First home for the CSH ladies was Grainne Butler in a fantastic time of 12mins 39sec which earned her 6th place over in the ladies race and 1st place in her age category. She was followed by Angie McElligot and then Shirley Mitchell. First home for the CSH men was Martin Prunty in a great time of 29mins 12 sec and very close on his heels was Tony Keegan in a time of 29mins 15sec, Martin must have been able to feel Tony breathing behind him! Next home for the CSH men was Colm Brady in a time of 30mins 38sec. It was also great to see a great CSH battle between Jimmy Courtney, Adrian McEntee and Brian Corr who all finished within a 5sec window. Well done to all for taking part on a very cold day, especially when the famous BHAA cup of tea and biscuits had to be enjoyed outdoors due to exceptional circumstances. Full results are now available on the BHAA website and results for CSH runners are available in the Results section of our own site. Roll on 21st Jan for the next BHAA XC race.
