More success in Swords
The BHAA winter league continued on Saturday at the NCF race in Swords. As the 26 runners from CSH lined up it was not as cold as expected but was certainly muddy - perfect conditions for cross country!. With a simultaneous start for men and women it was 5miles for the men and 2.5miles for the ladies. In the ladies race we had 6 CSH runners including 2 ladies new to BHAA, Deirdre and Loise. First home for CSH on her BHAA debut was Deirdre Waldron in 17mins 12 sec and she was followed in 2nd place by our other debutant Loise Segers in 17mins 45secs. Close on her heels in 3rd place for CSH was Shirley Mitchell in 17mins 47secs. In the prizes on the day were Shirley and Maire Norris who both came 3rd in their categories - congratulations to them. In the men's race we had 17 CSH runners and plenty of club battles. First home for CSH was Paul Cowhie in a fantastic 27mins 20 secs which earned him 9th place overall in the race and 1st place in his category - well done to Paul. Great to see that he is still in winning form after his fall in Raheny. Second home for CSH was Andy Davies in 31mins 33sec and he was followed by Nick Devery in 33mins 30secs. As with previous BHAA races there were some great battles down the field, brothers Kevin and Mark Lehenan certainly were shoulder to shoulder for the entire race with Kevin just crossing the line first in 34mins 29sec followed by Mark in 34mins 31secs. Another club trio that had a very tight finish were Owen McFeely in 35mins 13secs followed by Stephen Lynch in 34mins 14secs and Brian Corr in 35mins and 16secs. Well done to Padraig Gibbons and Joe Chaney who both raced after their recent race in Raheny. Next BHAA race is the Garda race on 18th Feb in the Phoenix Park. This is like a home race for CSH so hopefully we will have a large turnout so we can get back what we have put in on those recent hill sessions (well that is what Tony has promised!).
