Sunday saw a return to road racing in Dunboyne for the annual 4mile road race. In a large field CSH had 22 runners with 16 men and 6 ladies on a day that was unseasonably warm at 19c. Before the race Tony led the warm up (not that it took much to warm up on the day!) and warned us all not to get caught up the excitement of the first mile. First home for CSH was Paul Cowhie in a fantastic time of 21mins6sec, this earned Paul 2nd place in his category – congrats Paul. Second home for CSH was Martin Prunty in 23mins47sec followed by Paul Cullen in 26mins25sec. First home for the CSH ladies was Loise Seger in 28mins55sec followed closely by Ann Horan in 29mins5sec and then Maire Norris in 29mins27sec. Well done in particular to Marie and Joe Delaney who both improved their times from last year by ~1min and to Stephen Downey who improved last year’s time by over 2mins. It was also great to see some first time runners for CSH – welcome Clement and Denise, also great to see some of regulars back racing, welcome back Tony Martin and Hugh McGarr. Well done to all who ran this race as it was a particularly tough given the heat on the day – we need some more warm weather training Tony! Congrats to Dunboyne AC on a very well organised race and great refreshments afterwards. Finally thanks the CSH support around the course – Charlie, Charlie, Mags, Elaine and John.
